After completing this unit, learners will be able to: Identify and interpret financial-assistance eligibility thresholds using FPL percentages and institutional policy. Summarize and apply required elements of an organizational FAP, including scope, criteria, and communication standards. Assess patient financial profiles and determine qualification for full or partial aid based on documented evidence. Complete and file charity-care applications accurately within EHR or billing systems, ensuring privacy and compliance. Audit and evaluate financial-assistance activity for adherence to IRS 501(r), EMTALA, and internal ethics policies. Design and implement a standardized decision-tree or workflow that improves efficiency and consistency in aid qualification.

Completion of Unit 5.1: Patient Responsibility and Cost Estimation or equivalent experience in front-end billing or patient financial counseling. Basic understanding of insurance coverage, cost-sharing, and eligibility verification processes.
