After completing this unit, learners will be able to: Identify and define key elements of patient financial responsibility—deductibles, co-payments, coinsurance, and out-of-pocket limits. Accurately calculate estimated patient costs using both manual and digital estimation tools. Interpret payer cost-sharing rules and integrate them into estimation processes. Demonstrate the use of estimation software in real or simulated counseling scenarios. Assess compliance with cost transparency standards such as the No Surprises Act. Develop and present a compassionate cost-estimate script tailored to patient needs and institutional policy.
Completion of Module 4: Claims Management and Denials or equivalent experience in healthcare billing, insurance processing, or patient access. Basic understanding of payer rules, claims submission, and front-end data integrity.
