By the end of this course, learners will be able to: Define and differentiate key leadership theories and models relevant to healthcare management. Identify core leadership competencies and explain their importance in managing complex healthcare organizations. Apply leadership theories to improve healthcare quality, patient safety, and organizational culture. Analyze the relationship between leadership practices and organizational performance metrics such as PCMH, JCAHO, and CMS. Evaluate the effectiveness of leadership behaviors and styles in achieving healthcare quality improvement outcomes. Formulate strategies to lead transformational change and innovation within healthcare systems. Integrate ethical leadership principles into decision-making to ensure accountability, equity, and trust in healthcare delivery.
Prerequisites: Completion of Module 1: Foundations of Quality Assurance, particularly Unit 1.1 (Introduction to Quality Assurance) and Unit 1.5 (Continuous Quality Improvement). Familiarity with basic organizational structures, governance, and healthcare quality principles from previous modules. Understanding of risk management and patient safety principles (Module 2). Rationale: This foundational leadership course requires a basic understanding of how healthcare systems operate and how quality management frameworks support organizational performance. This foundation enables learners to link leadership practices to quality outcomes effectively.
