By the end of this course, learners will be able to: Define the principles of ethical leadership and explain their significance in healthcare organizations. Identify common ethical dilemmas in healthcare leadership and decision-making contexts. Apply ethical frameworks and professional codes of conduct to resolve moral and organizational challenges. Analyze the impact of ethical leadership on patient care quality, trust, and organizational performance. Evaluate conflicts of interest and ethical risks related to leadership roles and governance. Develop policies and practices that promote ethical culture, transparency, and accountability within healthcare organizations. Integrate ethical reasoning and performance metrics (CMS, JCAHO) to guide sustainable and responsible decision-making.

Prerequisites: Completion of Units 5.1–5.4 of this module. Prior study of healthcare governance, compliance, and regulation (Module 3: Compliance and Regulatory Standards). Understanding of leadership roles, organizational culture, and change management principles (Units 5.1 and 5.3). Rationale: Ethical leadership requires both conceptual understanding and practical experience with governance, change processes, and compliance frameworks. Prior coursework ensures learners can evaluate complex ethical challenges within real-world healthcare leadership contexts.
