By the end of this course, learners will be able to: Explain the principles of team formation and leadership within healthcare quality improvement initiatives. Describe the dynamics of team collaboration and its impact on achieving quality improvement goals. Apply communication and conflict management strategies to build effective healthcare teams. Implement quality improvement methods and tools (e.g., PDCA, Lean, Six Sigma) within multidisciplinary teams. Analyze team performance using organizational metrics such as PCMH and JCAHO standards. Evaluate leadership approaches that foster teamwork, motivation, and accountability in healthcare environments. Develop strategies that align team goals with broader organizational objectives to enhance overall quality outcomes.

Prerequisites: Successful completion of Unit 5.1 (Leadership Theories and Practices in Healthcare). Prior exposure to team-based healthcare, communication strategies, and continuous improvement frameworks (Module 1, Units 1.3–1.5). Understanding of organizational risk management and patient safety culture (Module 2). Rationale: Learners must have prior knowledge of leadership theories and healthcare improvement frameworks before taking on the responsibility of leading multidisciplinary quality improvement teams effectively.
