By the end of this course, learners will be able to: Define key concepts and terminology related to healthcare performance measurement and metrics. Explain the role of performance indicators in evaluating quality, safety, and efficiency of healthcare services. Identify types of healthcare performance metrics, including structural, process, and outcome measures. Apply benchmarking techniques to assess organizational performance against national and industry standards. Analyze the relationship between key performance indicators (KPIs) and organizational quality goals. Interpret performance dashboards and scorecards to support decision-making and improvement initiatives. Completion of Module 1: Foundations of Quality Assurance, particularly: Unit 1.1 (Introduction to Quality Assurance) Unit 1.4 (Benchmarking and Performance Indicators) Basic understanding of quality assurance frameworks, continuous quality improvement (CQI), and patient safety principles (Module 2). Familiarity with basic computer applications and data interpretation concepts. Rationale: Learners must have foundational knowledge of healthcare quality systems and performance evaluation concepts before engaging with performance metrics and measurement systems.
