By the end of this course, learners will be able to: Explain the principles of data-driven decision making and its importance in healthcare quality improvement. Identify the types of data and analytical methods used to support strategic and operational decisions. Apply data analysis techniques to evaluate performance outcomes and identify improvement opportunities. Interpret data visualizations and dashboards to guide evidence-based healthcare decisions. Develop actionable insights from performance data to support patient safety and cost-effectiveness. Integrate data analytics with quality improvement frameworks such as PDSA, Lean, and Six Sigma. Evaluate the outcomes of data-informed decisions on clinical effectiveness, organizational efficiency, and patient satisfaction.
Prerequisites: Successful completion of Units 4.1–4.3. Knowledge of quality improvement models (e.g., PDCA, Lean Six Sigma) from Module 1, Unit 1.5 (Continuous Quality Improvement). Understanding of risk analysis and patient safety culture from Module 2. Rationale: Learners should already be competent in data collection and performance analysis before applying analytical insights to inform strategic and operational decision-making.
