This course explores the intersection of healthcare access and health equity, examining disparities arising from socioeconomic status, geographic location, and cultural factors that create unequal access to services. Learners develop understanding of systemic factors contributing to health disparities affecting marginalized communities and examine implications for public health outcomes. The course emphasizes identifying underserved populations through data tools, applying equity frameworks to community assessments, analyzing structural barriers to access, and evaluating cultural responsiveness of services. Content includes designing culturally appropriate outreach and developing proposals for improving health system access, with emphasis on community-based approaches empowering local communities to address their own health challenges.
